East 10th Street

about the project:

East 10th St is a tunnel book depicting four intersections in New York’s East Village. An ode to my home.

23×18cm. Recessed cover with green aluminum sheeting and reflective white vinyl. A central hole invites the viewer to peer inside.

The work is comprised of four original watercolor illustrations from which a central window has been cut. Illustrations are connected by 4” accordion leafs, which allow the work to collapse and expand within its case. Circular reliefs in the sides of each leaf allow light to enter.

Aligning each intersection behind the other allows the viewer to see straight from 2nd Ave to Avenue B.
